What we collect
When you use Auntie, we collect the following information to generate your personalised Vedic astrology readings:
- Email address (used for account authentication)
- Date, time, and place of birth
- Your name (optional display name)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Conversations with Ask Auntie (your questions and her responses)
- Location (used to calculate accurate chart timings)
- Device information and app usage data
- Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. Your birth chart is yours.
How we use it
Your birth data is used to calculate your Vedic birth chart, generate daily readings, and personalise premium reports you purchase. Usage data helps us improve the app experience.
When you use Ask Auntie, your questions and relevant chart data are sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses. OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy and does not use API inputs to train their models. Your Ask Auntie conversation history is stored so Auntie can reference previous conversations and provide deeper, more personalised guidance over time.
If you upload a profile photo, it is stored securely and used only for display within your account.
Data storage
Your account data and birth chart information are stored securely in a Supabase database (hosted on AWS) using industry-standard encryption. We use Upstash Redis for temporary caching of readings to improve performance — cached data expires automatically and is not used for any other purpose. Your information is retained for as long as you have an active account.
When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our database within 30 days. Cached data expires automatically. Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate Auntie:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- OpenAI — AI-powered reading and Ask Auntie response generation
- Vercel — website hosting and serverless functions
- Upstash — Redis caching
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
- Apple / Google — app distribution and payments
Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
Age restrictions
Auntie is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to update inaccurate information
- Deletion — request that we delete your data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Opt out — withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We honour all applicable data protection laws.
Cookies
The Auntie website uses minimal cookies for essential functionality only. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on the website.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Auntie after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
